Blogs have given thousands of people and families opportunities that they had never dreamed were possible.
Free from the routine of 9 to 5, the ability to bring something meaningful to the world, including early retirement.
In addition to money, blogs come with some other really great benefits.
- You are your own boss, and you make your own hours.
- Work from wherever you want (and travel the world if you want). Personally, I prefer quaint coffee shops.
- The amount of money you earn is a direct correlation of how hard you are willing to work.
- You learn a lot about how to run a business and acquire valuable skills along the way. If you ever decide to return to the workforce, you will have many career options.
- Be as creative as you want, create courses, printables, art, recipes, whatever your boat floats.
- Make a real difference in the lives of other people.
Blogging has opened so many doors for me. I have the opportunity to write about things that I love (personal finances, monetary mentality, blogging, and business), helping others and working on projects that really inspire me.
I know what you’re thinking – But how is all that possible?
Let me explain how this whole blogging issue works by answering the most common blogging questions.

That said, don’t get the wrong idea. Blogging is hard work, and the amount of money you earn is directly related to the amount of work you are willing to invest in.
You can earn millions of dollars, or you can make a couple of dollars a month. It is totally from you.
How much do bloggers earn?
The income range for bloggers is quite drastic. That is because it does not cost much to start a blog, so the entry barrier is low.
More effort is needed to make money than most people believe, so many blogs never make money at all.
(But not you, that’s what you have for us!)
However, those who keep going have the potential to make thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars per month.
How do bloggers make money?
At this point, you realize that it is definitely possible to make (a lot of) money blogs. The next question How do you earn money blogging?
The truth is that no two blog businesses are exactly the same. Online businesses, particularly blogs, are incredibly flexible.
There are dozens of ways to make money online with a blog, but the best way to monetize your blog depends on your niche, your ideal audience, and your personal preferences.
Below are the most common methods to make money blogging.
1. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing Earn a commission by promoting products from other companies or (people’s products).
This is our favorite way to make money with our blogs, and one of the most passive blog monetization methods.
There are three main ways to approach affiliate marketing using affiliate networks, enrolling in private affiliate programs and promoting products on a shopping site.
Affiliate networks are sites that host affiliate programs for many different companies.
These networks are very convenient for bloggers because instead of registering with a million different programs, create an account with some affiliate networks and have access to hundreds or even thousands of products and services that you can promote.
For private affiliate programs, you register directly with the person or company you wish to promote. For example, our email service provider does not exist in an affiliate network.
Instead, we request your affiliate program individually (because we love and want to support them), and work directly with the company’s affiliate support team.
And last but not least, there are affiliated shopping sites.
Let’s say you start a camping blog where you write comments about different types of camping equipment and products. Amazon Associates Could be a great money maker for your blog.
2. Advertising
Another common way to make money with blogs is by showing ads on your website. There are two main types of display ads.
CPC / PPC cost per click (or pay per click)
Typically, CPC / PPC ads appear as banners in the content or in the sidebar of a website. Every time a reader clicks on the ad, you earn a small amount of money.
CPM cost per 1,000 impressions
CPM ads are based on views instead of clicks. You are paid a fixed amount for every 1,000 people who see the ad on your site.
We use the ads sparingly on our sites, but it is definitely not our number one money maker.
We are not fans of being paid a few cents to direct our readers to someone else’s website, and there are more lucrative ways to earn money blogging on this list.
However, display ads can be a good way to dip your toes in monetize at the beginning of your blogging journey. The easiest way to place advertisements on your site is to register with an advertising network.
Google advertising is a popular option for bloggers who are just starting. Payments tend to be lower than the most exclusive advertising networks, so don’t expect to get rich in a short time if you choose this route.
Other types of ads
Display ads are not the only way to advertise on your site.
Another option is to publish sponsored content. This is where companies pay you (either in the form of cash or free products) to write an article or publication on social media about your product or service.
The more readers or followers you have, the more you can charge to get your product in front of your audience. And you don’t have to wait for companies to contact you to make money with sponsored publications.
You will also need a media kit that summarizes your site statistics (traffic, audience demographics, email subscribers, social followers, etc.).
You can use Canva templates to create a media kit for free.
3. Services
Offering services is probably the fastest way to make money as a new blogger, and there are TONS of options to choose from.
If you have knowledge of technology, you could start to face independent web development clients. Do you love to write A lot of sites will pay you for it.
I made my first $ 1,000 + through my site by experimenting with different service offers. First, I took a $ 1000 online marketing course and started applying for small jobs.
Then I used the content of my blog to show my online marketing skills and started presenting to online business clients.
And finally, I decided to use my skills and my experience in search engine optimization to help businesses have abetter online visibility.
Some of the most common services offered by bloggers are
- Freelance writing
- Virtual assistance
- Social media management
- Facebook Ads
- Web design
- Drafting
- Consultant
- Public speaking
- training
However, there really is no limit to what you can offer online.
To determine your ideal service offer, make an inventory of what is good, what you enjoy and/or what you have experience.
Then, find out if there is a market for people who are willing to pay for their trade.
Most likely, the answer is yes.
Or, if you want to break into a certain area but are not sure where to start, you may consider taking a course.
There are courses for almost any service you can imagine, like this in freelance writing, a virtual assistant business or in running Facebook ads for customers.
Online courses can be an excellent way to fill your knowledge/skills gaps and help you earn money with your blog even faster.
4. Digital Products
Digital products come in all types of formats electronic books, workbooks, online courses, printables, membership sites and more.
Just as anyone can create a blog, anyone can create a digital product. But actually getting it in front of the right people and selling it takes a lot of skills.

If you have a lot of knowledge in a particular area, this could be a good source of income for you.
