The key compound in turmeric, called Curcumin, helps to protect against a wide range of diseases, including RA, Cardiovascular diseases, Dementia & some Cancers. As a polyphenol, Curcumin is a strong antioxidant & has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial & anti-fungal properties. The problem is that the Curcumin by itself is not well absorbed by the body. Combine it with Pepper, which contains a compound called Piperine, similar to the compound found in chili powder &cayenne pepper. Paperine has been shown to relieve nausea, headaches & poor digestion & also has anti-inflammatory properties. It also has the ability to boost the absorption of certain compounds in the digestion process.
The combination of pepper & turmeric increases the absorption of the compound Curcumin in your blood. Piperine improves the bioavailability of Curcumin. First, Piperine may relax the intestinal wall allowing larger molecules like Curcumin to pass through & be absorbed. Secondly, it may slow down the liver metabolism of Curcumin enough that your body can absorb it more effectively. As a result of both actions, more Curcumin is absorbed, allowing it to function at an optimal level.
This combination is a natural pain reliever. The anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric desensitize the pain receptors in your body, which reduce the feeling of discomfort & help offset the use of painkillers to an extent, especially musculoskeletal injuries.
It helps to fight off obesity. Have Turmeric with black pepper & ginger in warm water first thing in the morning to give metabolism a boost. You may add a dash of lime to make it more tolerable.
Helps combat inflammation by preventing it.
Helps fight off cancer cells. The anti-cancer cells of turmeric are known to work effectively on leukemia cells, gastric & colon cancer cells & breast cancer cells.
Helps aid in digestion. This combination has shown to enhance the availability & presence of digestive enzymes in your gut.
