Campus

Mount Kenya University Thika Campus

Mount Kenya University Thika Campus is situated along General Kago Road, Thika town. The campus is the epicentre of all Mount Kenya University Campuses and hosts the offices of Chairman, Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellors.

The campus is also home to School of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy.

The campus is situated 45 Kilometres from Kenya’s capital Nairobi and about two Kilometres from the heart of Thika town, Kiambu County.

Mount Kenya University Nairobi Campus

Mount Kenya University Nairobi Campus was established in 2009. The campus is situated at the heart of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, and operates from four locations namely MKU Towers, Bank Plaza, MKU Union Towers (all along Moi Avenue), and MKU Parklands, off Limuru Road.

The students do not live within the campus, it’s a non-residential Campus and the most of the students are either working-class professionals seeking to strengthen their professional skills by attending evening classes, or fresh KCSE graduates just starting off their tertiary education.

Mount Kenya University Nakuru Campus

Mount Kenya University Nakuru Campus was established in January, 2009. The campus is located at Resma Plaza. Its non-residential Campus and is currently constructing an eight-storey building within the town, which will be a centre for teaching and research.

Mount Kenya University Eldoret Campus

Mount Kenya University Eldoret Campus was started in October, 2010. The campus has grown in terms of student numbers, staff establishment and physical resources. It recently took a bold step forward by breaking ground for construction of new facilities within the town.

Mount Kenya University Kitale Campus

Mount Kenya University Kitale Campus opened its doors in January, 2011 as a teaching centre with only 17 students. The campus has grown and Today, it is the byword for infrastructural development, research and higher education training in Trans Nzoia County.

Mount Kenya University Kakamega Campus

Mount Kenya University Kakamega Campus started as a teaching centre for school-based students for Eldoret Campus in December, 2011.

The Demand for other programmes notably Bachelor of Medical Laboratory, Bachelor of Environmental Health, and Bachelor of Business Management saw the starting of regular programmes in January, 2012. The centre was elevated to a campus in March, 2012. It lies 367 kilometres from Main Campus:

Mount Kenya University Kisii Campus

Mount Kenya University Kisii Campus was started in March, 2012. The campus is one of the competing universities in the region, where almost all public and private universities have a presence. The Campus has acquired its own land and premises, which it intends to develop to enable it take the lead in the County.

Mount Kenya University Lodwar Campus

Mount Kenya University Lodwar Campus is situated 685 kilometres from Main Campus. The Lodwar Campus is the only university in Turkana County.

Mount Kenya University Lodwar Campus was established in August 2011 to make education accessible to the people of Turkana and neighbouring counties. The campus has also positively changed the lives of the community through its vibrant corporate social responsibility programmes.

Mount Kenya University Mombasa Campus

Mount Kenya University Mombasa Campus is situated 540 kilometres from Main Campus. The Campus is situated in the coastal city of Mombasa along Nkrumah Road.

Mount Kenya University Mombasa Campus is housed at MKU Plaza. The five storey plaza was acquired by the university for the use by the campus. It admitted its first students in September, 2008. Since then the Campus has successfully graduated five groups of both undergraduate and postgraduate  students. The campus continues to admit students pursuing courses in various Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Post Graduate programmes. The Campus has mounted various infrastructural developments to facilitate in the teaching, research and consultancy services.

Mount Kenya University Nkubu Campus

Mount Kenya University Nkubu Campus is situated at Majani Plaza. Nkubu is 16 Kilometres from Meru town. The campus is located 169Kms from Thika Main Campus.

It was established in April, 2010 and has successfully implemented a quality management system under the ISO 9001:2008 standards and rolled out a five year strategic growth plan focusing on human resource, physical resource, governance, teaching and learning, marketing/research and community outreach, strategic linkages and collaboration, ICT and financial resources.

Mount Kenya University Kabarnet Campus

Mount Kenya University Kabarnet Campus is situated 301 kilometres from the Main Campus. The Campus was started in January 2013 in Kabarnet Town, Lelbatai Plaza, now MKU Plaza. It was under the wings of MKU Eldoret Campus. The starting of the centre was in response to the many requests by the local population through their leaders to open one in Kabarnet town. There was no institution of higher learning to take care of the education and academic needs of this population.

Mount Kenya University Digital Varsity Campus

Mount Kenya University Digital Varsity is open-learning platform that enables students to undertake their courses and continuous assessment tests online.

It is based at Mount Kenya University Union Towers, Nairobi.

This campus is ideal for those who come from distance areas, or those who are too busy to attend lectures.

The Campus has also established Virtual Learning/ ICT centres in Garissa, Malindi and Kisumu for student support. “Virtual Campus is driven by the global advancement in technology and students’ demand for higher education with quality learning, innovative teaching mechanisms, flexibility and convenience
