A tidy, easy-to-use kitchen = more cooking = more food for you and everyone you love.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, but keeping things orderly and neat takes some planning and thought. Below are my 10-steps to a clean, organized and lovely kitchen
STEP 1. ➠ CLEAR YOUR COUNTERTOP
You probably think having almost everything on the counter affords you a high level of accessibility but seriously, have you considered it might be one of the reasons your kitchen has that untidy look?
STEP 2. ➠ DESIGNATE SHELVES AND DRAWERS FOR SIMILAR ITEMS
Make the space in your cabinet work for you by grouping objects by purpose and assigning them to specific parts of the cabinet. Doing this frees valuable counter space, leaving your countertop a tidy look.
STEP 3. ➠ DESIGNATE A COOKING AREA
Create a section around your cooker for this to contain the mess during cooking to make tidying up after cooking less tedious. Store your pots and pans close to this section for quick access while cooking.
STEP 4. ➠ STOW COOKING TOOLS EFFICIENTLY
Stow frequently used kitchen tools like your egg whisk, spatula and so on, as close to the cooking area as possible, so you never have to rummage around when you need them.
STEP 5. ➠ SHOW OFF PRETTY WARES
Don’t keep those attractive glass cups, pans, antique bowls, China, and so on, locked up where it serves no use at all. By all means, showcase them to add a more appealing look to your kitchen.
STEP 6. ➠ INTRODUCE SEE THROUGH STORAGE
Eliminate clutter in open shelves by stashing items in airy baskets instead of placing them directly in.
STEP 7. ➠ FIND HELP IN A LAZY SUSAN
Contain messes in your shelves/drawers by housing food items that can spill or stick on an easy-to-clean lazy susan.
STEP 8. ➠ CATEGORIZE FOOD
Your pantry shelf should have each category of food in a separate section. Use labeled jars, containers, and baskets to keep pantry items well organized with a decent appeal.
STEP 9. ➠ INSTALL A RETRACTABLE BOOK STAND
With this, you won’t have cookery books littering the whole place or getting soiled while using them. Keep a recipe at eye level while cooking and fold it under the cabinet when you’re done.
STEP 10. ➠ CLEAN AS YOU GO
Failure to do this would absolutely put the above efforts to ruin. Make a routine of clearing and wiping your countertop, cleaning the cooker and putting used items back in the designated place after cooking. It becomes less of a chore as you get used to it.
A lovely kitchen is a well-organized one. So, go on, have that spotless and inviting kitchen you’ve always wanted…it’s just ten steps away!
