The Directorate of Alumni Programmes is currently updating its database. The purpose of this is to know our alumni, connect with them, honour and involve them in all university activities. To help us facilitate this process, we are requesting you to complete this form either through:
Membership Levels
The Alumni shall comprise of six classes of members:
1. Ordinary
2. Life
3. Associate
4. Fellows
5. Honorary
6. Affiliate
(1) Ordinary Members
Shall be open to all graduates of Kenyatta University since
its inception as an institution of learning in 1965 and must apply and pay,
upon acceptance membership and subscription fee, which shall be determined by
the Executive Committee and approved by the Annual General Meeting from time to
time. This category shall include all those students who studied at Kenyatta
University when it was a constituent College of the University of Nairobi.
(2) Life Members
Shall comprise members who by virtual of status and/or work
station opt to pay a figure, decided by the members from time to time, that
will enable them avoid paying annual subscriptions.
(3) Associate Members
Shall comprise graduates of other Universities who are
employees of Kenyatta University, with a common interest with the Alumni, and must
apply and pay, upon acceptance, membership and subscription fee, which shall be
determined by the Executive Committee and approved by the Annual General
Meeting from time to time.
(4) Fellows of the Association
These will comprise those Alumni who in the opinion of the
Association have excelled and distinguished themselves as members of the
Association. Prospective fellows of the Association shall be identified by the
Executive Committee and presented to the Annual General Meeting for
ratification.
(5) Honorary Membership
These will comprise the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice
Chancellors, Principals of Campuses, professors, and all present and past
members of the teaching staff of Kenyatta University (including, for this
purpose, Emeritus Professors and honorary Professors), upon payment of the registration fee as determined from time to time by the Annual General Meeting.
(6) Affiliate Members
Shall comprise Corporate Bodies, Non-Governmental
Organizations, and graduates from other Universities with an interest in
identification with Kenyatta University and must for this purpose have had
approved dealings with Kenyatta University, for example, teaching, placements,
collaborative projects et cetera. Such members will be required to pay
registration and subscription fees that will be determined by the Executive
Committee and passed at an Annual General Meeting

WHO IS KU ALUMNUS/ALUMNAE?
- All
students who went to school at Kenyatta University are de facto members of
the alumni family.
- All
students in session
- Graduates
of other universities whose spouses are Kenyatta University could become
honorary alumni.
- Children
of Kenyatta University alumni are by extension of their parents’ status
Kenyatta University alumni.
- Any corporate firm or individual who willingly undertakes to identify with the Vis

Graduation ceremony held on 2nd July 2010. H.E. President Kibaki was honoured
in recognition of his distinctive commitment to hard work inspirational to
all and leadership qualities demonstrated in education, economic growth and
poverty eradication. |
H.E. Vice-President Kalonzo MusyokaThe former Vice-President of the Republic of Kenya and
Minister for Home Affairs was also honoured during the University’s 25th
graduation ceremony held on 19th December 2008 ,with a a Doctorate in Humane
Letters (honoris causa), in recognition of his achievements in peace-making,
conflict resolution efforts, sustainable community development and humanistic
ideals. |
H.E Former President Daniel MoiThe then President of Kenya and Chancellor of KU was
honoured with the degree of Doctor of Education (honoris causa) during KU’s
first graduation ceremony on December 17, 1985. |
H.E. President Jakaya M. KikwetePresident of United Republic of Tanzania was honoured
during the University’s 25th graduation ceremony held on 19th December 2008
with a Doctorate in Humane Letters (honoris causa), in recognition of his
great effort in leadership excellence, peace initiative and support for

Kenyan educationist was honoured with the degree of Doctor of Education
(honoris causa) during the University’s 25th graduation ceremony held on 19th
December 2008 for her achievements in academics, contribution in various
