Adventist University of Africa is a Seventh-day Adventist
Institution for higher learning in Africa. The university was established for
the purpose of providing post-graduate education throughout Africa.
The rapidly growing membership of the Church in Africa
challenged its leaders to find solutions to the questions of increasing demand
for committed professional leaders with knowledge, skills, and an attitude of
service at all levels of the Church.
Leaders, pastors, and educators realised that the solution to the challenges
was inextricably linked with postgraduate education within the territory of the
growing church.
With further discussions, this led to the opening of

The Adventist University of Africa is a Seventh-day Adventist university
created for the purpose of providing post-graduate education throughout Africa.
Adventist University of Africa has two departments, the Seminary, and the
School of Graduate

graduates to provide competent leadership and service based on integrity,
respect, and love, to meet the needs of church and society.

Adventist University of Africa Admission Requirements
The Adventist University of Africa is using the cohort system.
That is, the group that is accepted for the first cycle is expected to continue
together, through until the end of the programme. Students financially
sponsored by their employers have priority of admission; however, all students
must submit a recommendation from their employing organization. New programmes
may be added before the end of the cycle, thus, communication with the
Admissions office is indispensable before sending an application
Application for Admission
The Adventist University of Africa is open to all qualified applicants irrespective
of colour, race, ethnic identity, religion, gender or national origin.
Potential students may apply to any of the current programs at any time and be
admitted subject to fulfilling all admission requirements.
General requirements
Each program has its unique requirements for admission.
However, the following are general requirements for entry into any of the
university’s academic programs:
Minimum University entrance Requirements
Applicants to the master’s programmes must have a first degree from a
recognized university with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 point
scale) or its equivalent. For practical programmes, applicants must have a
minimum of 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 point scale), or its equivalent.
In addition to this minimum grade point average required from practical degree
programmes applicants, 4 years of relevant professional experience is
recommended and preferred for admission. However, direct entrants maybe
admitted without 4 years of field or professional experience if they have a
minimum of 3.0 grade point average or equivalent and fulfill other admission
requirements.
Other Admission requirements
Applicants are also expected to submit recommendation letters from previous
university and employing organisations where applicable. Non-English speaking
students will be required to demonstrate their ability to study in English by
meeting EITHER of the following:(a) A passing score on the Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL)(b) A passing score on the British Council English
language test (International English Language Test)(c) An English proficiency
certification from a recognized university
Adventist University of Africa Scholarships
Adventist University of Africa Scholarships.
Adventist University of Africa recognizes that there are worthy students from
different areas in Africa who, despite their will and strong commitment to
learning, do not have adequate financial resources to complete a graduate
program on their own and, therefore, need financial support to reach their
educational goals.
In response to this need, AUA has developed a scholarship
fund from the generous support of donors.
Since the fund is limited, scholarships can only be granted
to students who have applied
Scholarship Criteria
1. All applicants must have completed one full year at AUA with a CGPA of 3.00.
2. Scholarships are limited to the annual amount available for a given year.
3. Scholarships may be granted only to students who have made, or can make, a
contribution to their AUA bill using non-scholarship funds and/or student work
credit.
4. Scholarships can only be applied to the current tuition fee and may not be
applied to the student’s debt.
5. Any matriculated AUA student may apply, whether at the main or extension
campuses.
6. All applications must include the following:
a. Completed Application Form
b. One-page personal statement that demonstrates his/her need
c.Current AUA account statement
d. Financial plan developed by the student that shows how the programme will be
completed.
e) A letter of recommendation from any one of these sources 1) the home
union/conference; 2) the employing organization; 3) the local church; or 4) an
AUA faculty member
