National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a Kenyan government agency mandated with polling together member’s contributions and channeling the funds into investment ventures to generate returns for later distribution back to dependents as retirement benefits.
The scheme accommodates members of both formal and informal
sectors. To necessitate smooth operations, each NSSF member is obliged to
ensure monthly contributions get submitted in time.

How to check the NSSF number in Kenya
When you register with the NSSF, you get issued with an NSSF
card that bears your name and NSSF number, among other details. This identifies
you as an individual, but it also helps you make your contributions easily.
If you have lost your NSSF number, you can request it from
any of our Social Media pages, Email us at info@nssfkenya.co.ke, or call our
toll-free line 0800 2212744. To replace your NSSF card, kindly visit any
of our offices with a copy of your ID for a printout. You will be charged
Ksh.200 for card replacement.
You can then check the NSSF number online through the NSSF
self-service portal. You can likewise contact the NSSF help team to retrieve
your NSSF number.
How to Check NSSF Status via SMS
If you want to keep tabs on your statutory contributions,
you may want to check the status of your NSSF contributions. A few years ago,
you would be required to visit the respective offices to obtain a statement.
- Send
the word “NSSF” to *303# and follow instructions.
- Type
NSSF, NSSF No, Date of Birth, Full Names and send to *303#. Remember to
leave space after typing each detail.
- You
will receive a PIN (after they validate their data)
- Type
Bal, your new PIN” and send to *303#
- View
your statement balance.

- Dial

- Select
member services > Contribution Information > Email Contribution

You will receive a PDF copy of your statement in your email.
How to get NSSF Status Through Online
You must first be registered within the online portal to
take advantage of the provisions of the web-based system.
- Launch
the NSSF Self-Service portal on your browser.
- On
the e-portal, click on the “Member self-service links “option.
- Among
the several links displayed, hover and select the ‘NSSF contributions
statement’ tab.
- A
statement’s account login page displays. Have with you an NSSF username
and password to allow you to log in. After filling out the login details
correctly, proceed and enable account privileges.
- After
logging in, expect a welcome remark. Click on the provided link on the
page to continue.
- After
the page redirects you to your account, scroll to select the statement
period you wish to access. Click on “Issue account.”
How to Check NSSF statement via mobile phone app
NSSF mobile app is available on both Android and IOS
platforms. For Android devices, download the app on Google Play Store. iPhone
device owners can access the App Store to download a compatible application.
- After
installation, launch the app
- You
will be prompted to create an offline credential using a password and
username. Save the personal details by selecting ‘save offline login.’
- A
notification, ‘Login saved’ will appear signaling a successful creation of
login data.
- Click
‘ok.’
- Proceed
and use the verified offline login details to access the app features.
- After
successful login, you will be prompted
- Then
go ahead and tap on ‘Add new member’.
- To
continue at this point, you must have registered on the NSSF e-service. If
registered, continue and input your e-service username and password plus
the NSSF member’s number.
- If
not cataloged into the NSSF e-service, click the button, ‘Not registered?
Register. Include the details required, validate, and save.
- A
notification displayed as ‘member created’ confirms successful
registration. Click the ‘ok’ option.
- The
app will then take you to a page where you will be prompted to select the
indicated identity credentials.
- The
app will redirect you to a new interphase layout displaying a member’s
account, where, you are provided various options to select. In this case
tap on ‘View statement.’
- Download the statement if prompted to do so and view it from your device.
