What is Partitioning?
Partitioning means splitting one physical Hard drive or SSD into several different logical drives or volumes that your operating system will treat as if they work completely separate physical drives.
Why we need to do Partition?
Multiple partition can also help keep your data safe if something happens to your operating system installation one popular way to do this is to put personal files and data on a separate partition so if your operating system get corrupter or infected with certain types of malware you can just wipe it and do a clean installation.
Method to do Partition of Disk
1. In keyboard press+ s button.
2. Here windows search bar will appear. Type partition in that search bar and select “Create and Format hard disk partition” and press enter
3. Here Disk Management windows will appear. Select your hard drive that you want to do partition.
4. Right click to that drive that you want to partition and click on shrink volume.
5. Enter the number of megabytes that you would like to do partition to be into the "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" text field on the right side of the page.
- In the above section maximum number of Megabytes (MB) are given from which you can shrink your new partition.
- After entering the size that you want to do partition click on Shrink. This will begin creating a segment of your hard drive to separate a partition.
6. Select the new partition which is named as unallocated hard drive space
7.Right click on unallocated drive and select New Simple volume.
8. Click next it will begin partition setup.
9. Click next to accept the partition size.
10. Select the drive letter which you want to keep.
11. Click Next.
12. Select file system NTFS and click next
13. Click finish. It will take some time as per your partition size.
14. Congratulation you have successfully completed new partition
