when the university declares that you must go for attachment to graduate, to start looking for attachment opportunities.

earlier you apply, the higher your chances of landing a spot at a reputable
organization or any other organization for that matter.
Quick Note: Many companies review applications in batches. By applying early, you’ll be among the first to be considered.
2. Prepare Your Documents
Before you
even start applying, ensure that all your documents are up to date and well-organized.
Here’s what most organizations will ask for:
Mandatory
documents especially in governmental institutions.
- Updated CV/Resume: This should highlight your skills, academic
background, and any relevant experiences (even if they’re not
professional, include voluntary work or school projects). Make sure it’s up
to date. For those who don’t have them can start working on it earlier.
- A copy of Identity Card: National/ Alien identity
card is a form of identification that is necessary especially while visiting
government institutions.
- Cover Letter: Tailor
each cover letter to the specific company or organization. Briefly explain
why you're a great fit for their team and what you hope to gain from the
experience. For government institution, directorates and state
departments, the letters should be addressed to the Principal Secretary.

- Introduction / Recommendation Letters: Some organizations require
a letter from your school or lecturer confirming that you're a student
eligible for and is requesting for you to be placed for attachment.
- Personal accident insurance/ workplace injury
insurance: This insurance covers medical expenses and
compensation in case of accidents or injuries that occur while the student
is on attachment.
- A copy of recent transcripts: There is need to include
your academic transcripts, showing your grades and progress.
- A copy of Police Clearance Certificate /Certificate of
Good Conduct: It
verifies that an individual has no criminal record or details any criminal
history.
You can apply
for it through the eCitizen portal. Here are the general steps:
- Create an eCitizen account:
If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to register on the eCitizen
platform.
- Fill out the application:
Complete the online application form for the Police Clearance Certificate.
- Pay the fee: The application
process includes a fee, which you can pay online (Kes.1050 as at the date
of writing this article).
- Submit fingerprints: You will
need to have your fingerprints taken at a designated location, such as a
Huduma Centre or the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
headquarters.
- Receive the certificate: Once
processed, you can download the certificate from your eCitizen account.

- Application Forms: Some organizations have their own specific forms, so keep an eye out for those when checking their websites or application portals.
3. Network, Network, Network!
Opportunities
don’t always come through job boards. Sometimes, it’s about exploring.
Talk to your lecturers, friends, career office, or even alumni. Many of them
have valuable connections with companies or organizations that offer attachment
placements.
Additionally,
